Spot Comments:

  • Fun drive... Like a miniature Moki Dugway.

  • Or maybe a miniature Shafer Trail?  All, except these switchbacks, of the Burr Trail is now paved but it is still a great, scenic drive.

On the western end of the Burr Trail, near Boulder, there is a small BLM campground on Deer Creek.

  • We stayed at Deer Creek in May, while tenting.  Clean bathroom was maintained.  Approx six sites along a flowing stream.  Price was $4 or $6?

The gas station above the town of Boulder on the way to Escalante has a great selection of good quality foods, a water tap and more clean bathrooms.

The best remote camping we saw was out Sheffield Rd.

  • The switchbacks at the far end of the road are worth the drive. But there are lots of other interesting things, Long Canyon, The Gulch, Deer Creek and Muley Twist Canyon are all off the Burr Trail.
