The Harnet road, or western half of the Cathedral Valley Loop, begins 11.7 miles east of the Visitor Center off Utah Hwy 24. In order to take this route to Cathedral Valley, visitors must ford the Fremont River soon after leaving the highway, which may require a 4WD vehicle.

This is one half of the Cathedral Valley Loop trail. If you are doing the loop, start here to be sure you can ford the river. Also of note is that if there has been significant rain, the bentonite hills part of the road will be impassible. This is a fantastic drive!
The Hartnet Road is simply one of the most scenic drives in the USA. Take a high-clearance vehicle for the river crossing and the rough sections of the route.
