Getting There

The drive through the Cathedral Valley (60 mile loop) is usually started at the River Ford (11.7 miles east of the visitor center on Hwy 24), follow the Hartnet Road to the Caineville Wash Road and return back to Hwy 24 just west of Caineville (18.6 miles east of the visitor center.)

  • This remote section of Capital Reef NP is always worth a visit.  In most conditions a high-clearance 2x4 shouldn't have a problem but check the ford at the Fremont River before heading across. Also, a little water on this dirt road can make it impassable.
