Spot Comments:

  • On a visit to this CG a few years ago (I was the only one there at the time) I saw a bobcat standing across the little stream, about 30 feet away...the first/only time I've seen one of those kitties.  He/she trotted off when I was spotted.

  • The one time I was at Pine Creek we were the only campers.  This was our basecamp for the steep hike up Mt Jefferson.

  • This campground is a true oasis in the desert. There is no water or trash service here, but its a beautiful spot to camp anyway. The Mt. Jefferson trail starts right from the campground.

  • As Dirty Dog says, this spot is an oasis. This is a nice small campground with no services (water or trash), it has vault toilets, and camping is free. It is situated right along Pine Creek in the aspens, cottonwoods, and Pinyon pines and provides access to the Alta Toquima Wilderness and Mt. Jefferson.
