Getting There

The Atwell Mill Campground is located in the Mineral King area along the East Fork of the Kaweah River in a once-logged sequoia grove. At 6650-foot elevation (2027m), 19 miles (31km) from Highway 198 on the steep, narrow, and winding Mineral King Road & 6 miles (10km) before the end of the road.

One of the more remote established campgrounds. Beautiful, but slow drive getting there. Watch out for pesky bears! Definitely a favorite.

Atwell Mill is a very pleasant developed NP campground amongst the (smallish) big trees. The road is long, steep and narrow maybe not the best place for a big RV. Sedans can easily make it 10 miles more to Cold Springs CG near road's end, however.
