Spot Comments:

  • Cedar Mesa is a free backcountry campground in Capitol Reef National Park. It's easily accessible via the Notom road so it can fill up quickly, unlike the Cathedral Valley campground which is much more difficult to access. If you are looking for the best place to camp in Capitol Reef, I would recommend Cathedral Valley CG over Cedar Mesa.

  • This is a free but very small campground in a P-J forest on a dirt road not far from the Burr Trail intersection with the Notom-Bullfrog Road.  Expect it to fillup early.
