Spot Comments:

  • Father Crowley Vista is a very short drive off of Highway 190. Here you will get a great view to the east down across the northern end of Panamint Valley and the Cottonwood and Panamint Mountains beyond. Telescope Peak at over 11,000 feet is the highpoint in Death Valley National Park and the crown of the Panamint Mtns. It is just to the right of DirtyDog's truck in the photo above. Death Valley itself is on the other side of the Panamints. Be sure and stop here for the incredible views!

  • In the early 20th Century, Father Crowley, for whom this spot is named, ministered to the ranchers of the Owens Valley during their long, losing battle with LA's Department of Water and Power.
