Spot Comments:

  • It's not the best in the park, but its not the worst either. Actually has fire pits and vegetation which makes it about 10 times better than Stovepipe Wells or Sunset. Reservations recommended.

  • If you are coming in late it's easy to find and a nice place to get oriented and as DD said it has vegetation and fire pits which is a plus. Most of the established camping in Death Valley is more like tailgating at a football game than camping. Nothing but parking lot. Get off the beaten path as soon as you can to truly enjoy the place.

  • If you must camp in the Furnace Creek area this should be your second choice--after Texas Springs and way, way ahead of Sunset. Visit the DV Visitors' Center for entertainment, grab a shower at the pool, fuel up and refill the beer cooler. Then quiclkly head out on the dirt roads to the real Death Valley.

The best camping in DV is primative, along the back roads, in the canyons and mountains so why hang out in the established camp grounds?
