during the down pour we had two couples, one in a nice jeep and one in a grand vitara, stuck at our camp site. after words we knew they would not be able to go back up Shefer switch backs due to the mud and below us the river had turned into a 2' deep river. We waited hours and it went down to about 1' deep. I headed out in front of them on foot to make sure there were no hidden holes. they made it out. the next morning we had the same route in front of us. it went well and the nastiest part was as shown in this picture. after that it opened up and the road got off the river bed.
Great action photo! Where is this on the White Rim?
you were looking down shafer trail from the top, point straight out. just down there. take shafer trail down and then to the left then it circles around in shafer canyon and eventualy becomes potash road. the river crossing is just past the bathroom/camp spot on your left.
It wasn't a river when I was last there!!
