Great report KC! Did you carry chains for the Canyonlands roads? I remember when I ride the White Rim trail on my mountain bike - it had rained and we saw a Jeep that had slid off the road and broke both axles. Just wandering what the proper Springtime preparations are for that area.

What's your next big trip going to be?

Solid report, I've read some of your others at ExPo (I'm just a lurker there), always entertaining. I have to say I'm actually antsy to go hit up some desert tuft and this isn't helping. I NEED MORE VACATION!

2003 Dodge 1500 quad cab 4x4 5.7L Hemi auto w/ ride rite air springs and 1999(2000?) Hawk

2007 Dodge 2500 quad cab 4x4 5.7L Hemi auto and slowly progressing build.

FYI: I've got a bunch of extra 14ga wire in red and black. Its a thick jacket 41strand wire (likely MTW wire) verse typical 19strand automotive wire. It has good flexibility but factor in the thick jacket. I'll ship out 100' coils for $18 (I can go 50' of ea for that too) if anyone is in need of wire.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone.

That was a great trip to kick off last year. Totally spontaneous and yet it all turned out great. One of the best trips of last year. I couldn't believe our good fortune at every turn.

Thanks DD. I don't carry chains. I've been really lucky to hit Canyonlands with good weather each time. I also keep a leisurely pace to keep the potential for an accident to a minimum. Stopping every 20 yards for photos really helps! ;)

Here's how my year is shaping up so far...

March 14 - Salt Lake City to see Stan w/ FWC at a sportsmans expo show
March 19 - 28, Colorado Springs for a business conference, then down to Lake City for a few days

April date TBD- another 4 day weekend to SE Utah hopefully. I'm thinking about Escalante and Lake Powell

May - Memorial Day weekend - my annual trip to the Beartooths and Yellowstone NP

June 19-22 - annual Father's Day weekend get together, to the Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Monument in CO.

June 30th - July 6 - planning a trip to Idaho, to do the Magruder Corridor trail and/or maybe around Stanley

September dates TBD - either a FWC owners get together in CO, or a Landcruiser 60 series owners get together in Black Rock Desert of Nevada

October dates TBD - Outlaw Trail Run. Tracing Butch Cassidy's route from northern CO, to Hole in the Wall in central WY

November - Las Vegas and Death Valley, around Thanksgiving time

It's gonna be a good year! :thumb:
