Yep, today is the day when meteorologists around Earth's Northern Hemisphere celebrate (reservedly -- they're scientists) the first day of winter.
I'm winter wandering where it's warmer.

I spent the afternoon in my kayak in T-shirt and shorts...but that's to be expected here in southern Georgia.I have all the windows open enjoying the 72 degree "winter".
So what the hey is going on with that crazy West Coast weather?!...including the flood-making "atmospheric river" in the PNW..?
That ain't right!

It was 62 degrees F on the south side of Mt Adams today. Very balmy to say the least. But the clouds were fun:

It is winter here. The air is filled with the scent of smoldering pine needles. Many of our neighbors engage in recreational yard waste burning and have no idea how to make a hot fire.

Here in northern Florida -- Suwannee River State Park -- it's December and raining... But the locals are out in shorts and short sleeves. So am I.
I see why the cold-intolerant live here.
Having twice lived in Florida, I’ll paraphrase Edward Abbey. I’d rather starve in the west than fatten and flourish in the east.
I am haunted by waters
