The girls headed up early to Steamboat Springs for a soccer tournament this past weekend. My son and I decided to take the camper and find a place to stay out of town.

We ended up staying at the Dumont Lake Campground on Rabbit Ears Pass. We had stayed at the State Parks in the Steamboat area in the past but were hoping for something a little less crowded. This National Forest campground fit the bill just great. We got up late on Friday evening and the campground was barely half full.

Here are pictures of my daughter, Steamboat Ski Area, and the campground.

I like looking at your pictures Jim. Reminds me that my Ranger is going to look cool on my Tundra once I wear out my T-100..That may take a while though.

Great pics Jim!

According to my "records", I spent night #15 in the FWC at Dumont Lake. I was on my down to Leadville and holed up there for the night. One of those nights when you pull in around 11pm and are gone the next morning by 7am. But I do recall it was green and cool with lots of nice campsites.

So since I didn't really get to see much of the area, I really appreciate your pics. Love the Indian Paintbrush shot.

TT,
I'm not sure Toyotas ever die. :D

I've got over 115,000 miles on my Tundra and it's still going strong. Going up the passes, my wife was struggling to keep up with me in her Suburban. The Chevy has half the miles and me with the camper on the back  Toyotas just seem to age better...

KC,
It is definitely moist in the Steamboat area. It was a nice surprise, as so many campgrounds in Colorado are way overrun with people.

I noticed too for such a big campground, with 2 or 3 loops through it, that it was pretty much empty and this was the third week in June last year. Wish I'd gotten to see the lake, I just had to take their word for it that one was nearby! ;)

The only pic I got before rolling out. Boring -

Jim and kc,

Just reviewing this thread and wanted to say thanks for the shots. I do enjoy the mountain environment even through others pictures.
