I am planning a trip to Lake Powell for a bit of 'water wandering' and photography. With the lake down, there is a whitish ring that detracts greatly from the overall image. I know that I can do color sampling, then paint over that area on a new layer, using 'color' as the blending mode. That will preserve the underlying texture, but I've never got it just right on big areas like this.

Does anyone have another technique?

BTW, Tony Kuyper gets credit for the method I described. It works nicely on small areas.
