1. Any ideas why that CB blew? I use one roof top 100w panel and one 100w portable?
2. Any new ideas concerning surge protectors?
I've read the 2012 tread on this subject. I have a fully loaded Hawk, compressor refer, everything is working great otherwise, no problems since fuse replaced.
Thanks,
Brian

I purchased a 30amp surge protector at Camping Work for $100+, good insurance. I need to pick up one that I can use at home. I have a 30amp - 25' cord and plug it into the surge protector and then into shore power. When you use shore power at a campground, make sure the power (circuit breaker) is off before you plug in. Once you everything plugged in, turn it on. jd

I'm of the opinion that the fuse for the Zamp had nothing to do with a surge. As I recall, there is no AC going to the controller. I suspect that your panel(s) might have put out more than the 15 amp fuse could handle, but I am not certain of that.
A surge protector is a good idea when hooking up to shore power. Like JD says, it's good insurance. As the shore power connection that comes with the camper is only a 15 amp, I don't see a need for a heavy duty power cord, but rather just a good, heavy gauge extension cord. I'd have a doggone (30 ampere to 15 ampere adapter) to hook into the surge protector and/or the campground power.
