Very nice! I have several friends that regularly fish Pyramid Lake, someday I may join them. Well written explanation of the Pyramid Lahontans. Thanks for sharing your blog! :)

Cool write up.  Those look like some fun trout.

I've heard about fishing from a ladder, but have never taken the plunge.   :P

I think the high mountain trout DNA comes from Independence Lake.

We were there in June 2014

Ron, thanks for sharing! I'd love to fish that pond! We have a few places in Oregon with Lahontans, but nothing like Pyramid...

Cool write up. I've been fishing for over 50 years. I've fished in many waters and ways. But never from a step ladder!

Epic place. I was there in April during the last major snow storm in the Sierra. Cold, windy perfect conditions. This camper makes it sooooo pleasant with the heater. Best fishing is snotty weather.

Ron thanks for the fishing trip.

I have heard about the fishing there from a Sierra friend who has fished there several times.

Nice size fish.

I have fished at Heenan Lake where there is a hatchery for the Lahontan trout.

When I first fished there around 1985 we caught some very large fish in the 32" range.

Later years the fish caught weren't as large but fun to catch.

I haven't been there for several years.

Thanks again for your trip.

Frank
