Besides weight and roof penetrations I am interested not having things on the roof that can be pulled off by low branches, etc. I am regularly on trails that are overgrown and limiting appendages on the top and sides makes sense to me.

Re attaching flex solar panels to roof without holes you should check out posts by Zirdu. Here's one from 2017 that explains his approach but you could also look for more recent ones or contact him for an update. I'm going to try his method if I have time this winter.

Also interested in adding the Propex to my shell.  I have not heat and no propane.  

FWIW i do have two 100 watt Renogy rigid panels on my roof and the stock AGM 75 amp hour battery. No problems at all.

 

Anymore propex info would be appreciated.

No.  It isn't the replacement that is the problem, it is that there are a fair amount of surface-mount electronics in the existing one with no clear indicator of what does what.
