Hi Gang!
New here and to truck bed camping. Have a new to me 6’ RC with all original insides. She is in good shape and no leaks etc. BUT would like to update her and see what is feasible to include on the update. She is bare bones w no stove or sink or heater so am open to ideas and updating floors, walls, etc.

If ya have any pics that would be helpful as all get out!

She will be used for ski, mt bike, and camping trips w my two young boys!

Thanks again!

Cheers
Me

Mike, welcome to WTW.

We don’t have a lot of Roamin Chariots on the site, so it would be great to see photos of yours, both before and after your updates. There are a number of great build threads on the site, but most are for FWC and ATC pop ups. Alley Kat, Bill Harr, Ski3Pin and Pokybro are just a few of the many.

Here’s a link to the Ski3pin build: http://ski3pin.blogs...r-part-one.html

Hi Mikeje,

The RC looks like a nice lightweight rig!  I hope you find some fun inspiration here.  It wouldn't bee too tough to add a propane tank (isolated from the interior), sink with a bucket underneath, single burner stove, and heater to your rig.  That's my idea of a fully furnished camper. :)   Stitch up some new cushion covers, etc, and you're like new.

Do you have any photos you can share?  Btw, the easiest way I've found to upload photos to WTW is with the android app.  Use it to reply to your thread here and it has a really simple image uploader from your phone.  Once you have a post with images in it from the phone, you can edit it again and move the image tags to the correct spot in your post, either again from the phone or from your computer.

BTW, make sure to double check the hinge at the front of your camper.  From what I've seen, there isn't much holding the hinge on the RC together and your top could fly off on the freeway if it loosens up.  I've seen a couple folks add safety latches to their top to make sure it stays on if the hinge comes loose.

My RC is a shell model too. The original owner added a solar panel and inverter/two boat batteries. I changed nothing structurally. It's 500 pounds, maybe 600-some loaded, and I travel light. 15MPG on my 2013 Nissan Frontier and I can go just about anywhere a small 4X4 pickup can go without a camper on it, thanks to the RC's smart wedge build.

I'm an Alaska teacher who took a year off to travel the lower 48 states -- I'm playing a round of golf in all of them, but that's another topic.

This RC Camper has been a dream home. Don't add too much weight onto your truck or your life. My advice. ;-)
