The story includes information on the 30 day comment period. Julie & I, on our visit, were sad to find it all dried up.

I know that water is a major issue in a lot of western states. Balancing modern mans needs and nature is a tough balance. Here in the Midwest we are blessed with plenty of water. This year we could have gladly shared with our western neighbors. Nice pic and article on the subject. Hope they are successful restoring the spring.

I am disappointed the BLM and geothermal operator knew in advance the spring would likely be adversely affected, but chose to wait until it went dry to start thinking about mitigation. What about the creatures in the local ecosystem that have been wiped out or at least harmed, perhaps in permanent ways, by the development. It is always easier to prevent an ecosystem from being damaged than to try to put humpty dumpty back together again.
