Falcon Rebuild - Heater Options

Sorry- the hot air vent is the one upper right in relationship to the louvre. The other vent is the air inlet. The louver is for venting the cabinet. I'd say the hot air volume is somewhat minimal but it gives you a nice gentle heat.

The cabinet where your heater is mounted, is it still vented to the exterior as well from the factory arrangement or only vented inside the camper? Also, where is your propane tank mounted?

The propane tank compartment is above the furnace just below the 2 burner stove. It is a factory corner cabinet/stove option. The cabinet is not vented to the exterior other than the exhaust gas hookup to the flue fitting.

I have a Propex 2211 in my Eagle Shell with the thru hull exhaust. I bought this version because it can be mounted on its side and that worked for my install.

A few notes from my experience.

-Make sure you mount in a place that you can access it. There is a reset button that you sometimes have to hit if the battery gets too low or there are other issues to trouble shoot. It's on the backside between the blue cold air intake and hot air exhaust and it still somewhat hard to access.

- I put an adhesive firewall material on the underside of the cabinet and insulated the exhaust hoses with header insulation to keep the heat down and not burn anything. it seems to help a lot. It was all purchased off Amazon and can share the links if you'd like. 

- If I were to redo it, I would relocate my thermostat. It gets slightly covered by the bed and makes it slightly awkward to adjust in the middle of the night if I need too. I have also thought about either lowering the hot air outlet (vent on the right, cool air intake is on the left) or adding a tee and a second vent (louvered to close) in a lower part of the camper to keep feet warmer and allow for the air to rise.  

- On really cold nights (below 20), I will take off the vent and put on this piece of ducting to focus the air to the bed, it's really nice.

Over all I have been very, very happy with my purchase and it works very well. It uses minimal propane and electricity. I have camped in -5F in it and was relatively comfortable, i wouldn't want to do it every night, but I survived. The ice/frost that builds up on the tent walls is mostly what makes it undesirable. It makes some noise, but it doesn't bother me. My wife is a very light sleeper and she hasn't said anything about it either. 

How did you use the thru-hull fitting to the outside? Do you have a photo of that?

It is my understanding that the HS2000 can also be mounted in this fashion (upright with the logo facing towards you). Can anyone confirm that?

you can mount it in almost any orientation, except vertical (long dimension up and down).

Current PUMA build has the HS2800 mounted sideways.  intake/exhaust go through the lower part of the sidewall, just clearing my truck's wheel wells.  No ducting as you can see, (lousy pic, its the green box at lower right) and it works fine

It was my understanding when I purchased it that the 2211 was the only one that could be mounted in different orientations, good to hear that the other models can too. Nice cabinet work Vic!

The thru-hull vent was installed easily and I believe it came with a template. Here are photos from the inside and outside. The inside is a bit hacky, but it's hidden in the cabinet so I didn't worry too much. Exhaust is on the top and intake is on the bottom for obvious reasons.
