I just purchased a new F250 FX4.  Does anyone know if the front bumper is compatible to mount a winch with it? if so, do I need a special mounting kit?

THANKS!

you will need a winch mount. there are several companies that sell mounts that do not replace the bumper.

Take a look at Westin Automotive’s (westinautomotive.com) “Max Winch Tray”. Part No. for a 2020 F-250 is 46-23905, if I read the website correctly. Anyway, that is the winch tray I used to mount a Warn VR-10 on my 2017 F-150. The tray mounts directly to the truck frame via existing threaded holes. It was very quick and easy to mount. And you don’t have to remove the stock bumper, just two rectangular pop-out black plastic piece, located just beneath the bumper (for optional Ford driving lights?). Also, I was able to easily remove the two Ford tow hooks and remount them on the Westin tray.
This winch tray has been on my 2017 for 3 yrs and there have been no issues.

Ford offers a Warn winch with the Tremor Package.  Perhaps if will fit non-Tremor F250s also.

If at all possible please stay away from "hidden" winch mounts. Safe winching requires the ability to visually and tactilely access the drum, to ensure proper spooling and to be able to correct snarls and bunched line if necessary. The new winch mount on the Tremor has utterly no visual or actual access to the winch.

Jonathan has an excellent article on this very issue he posted several years ago on the interwebs and no doubt searchable.

You definitely want a bumper you can access the drum.  I can't begin to count the number of times I have had to unsnarl the syn rope on my two Warn winches.

Attending OX West in '15 and watching Jonathan's demos convinced me you want a bumper allowing you access to the winch drum.

I have the Warn Hidden Winch bumper and have full access and view of winch when used? Possibly they have changed in recent years?
