Relocating the furnace thermostat

Has anyone relocated their thermostat to the bunk area to better manage temperatures?

With the thermostat in its current location on the sink/stove cabinet and set to a relatively low 60 degrees, I start sweating because it gets so hot up top.

We found a small battery powered fan to stir up the air helps. . Easy to try without any rewiring.

We sleep side to side in the overcab bed. I replaced our thermostat, which was mounted to the cabinet between the sink and the front (truck cab) end of the camper, with a manual garage thermostat that has settings down to 35 deg (search WTW for posts about doing this).

We have a warm double sleeping bag so I often set the thermostat for 50 deg or less at night. I oriented the thermostat so I can easily reach the lever control from the over cab bunk (not all thermostates can be mounted both vertical and horizontal). If it is too warm or too cold it is easy to reach down and adjust the temp lever slightly.

When I want to get up I can reach down from the overcab bed and flip the temp lever. Works pretty well for us. To be sure it would be much more convenient if it were mounted on the wall at the hight of the cabover bed but I did not want to pull the paneling to run wire to a different location higher up.

We have the same problem with large temperature swings from the bi-metal type unit.  This is aggravated by the fact that the thermostat is currently mounted on the 3 way refrigerator cabinet that gets warm.  Would love to have a wireless one that currently cost too much $$$.  This is not easily solved because we have a pop up with the ceiling tight to the blankets in travel mode.  More to ponder.

I use my Phoenix camper mostly in winter in ski area parking lots. I found that when it got real cold that the factory thermostat location was too close to the propane furnace, resulting in the furnace cycling on and off too much. A relocation of the thermostat then caused the furnace to stay on too long but a third location of the thermostat worked just right and is within reach of the bed for middle of the night or first thing in the morning adjustments.

After more ponder...A new location does not seem to be in the cards .  I came across an extra 12v computer fan.  Has anybody rigged a fan to blow across the thermostat for a more accurate sample of air temperature???

Had the same problem with thermostat in our Northstar pop up.

We do not sleep with heater on but do like to turn on when getting up.

Our solution was to add a toggle switch located within reach near pillow so when i wake up i turn it on and within 3-5 min.

its comfy, turn it off get up and if needed turn on thermostat.

Just tap into power before it reaches thermostat.
