Folks, in addition to some cowboy cookery, in this episode you’ll learn why “Old Cooky” counted every bean he cooked.

Farty one – lol!
The closest I’ve gotten to making decent soup beans was an overnight soak then brought up to a rolling boil and simmer for 5 hours (I checked every hour after 2) and they were still a little crunch and “mealy”.  Adding hot water instead of straight from the tap definitely helped but I still can’t get tender beans.

Around here they call 'em Finlander Firecrackers. There's nothing like a can opened and placed in the coals to warm up. Goes back to being a little kid and camping out in the cabin yard all summer.

Enjoy, Bigfoot Dave
