Mrs. Ted took this photo on our San Juan Islands trip. Looks like a type of fly trap or orchid but I have not been able to ID it.

Hi Ted,

I believe it is a fairy slipper or calypso orchid. I'm not an expert and the ones I've been seeing this year have been more pink than purple. But I believe this is correct.

I read the ski3pin TR and am glad to see you had a good visit to this neck of the woods.

Best,

Chris

Perfect. Thanks all.

And yes, Chris, it was a great trip. We really hit a nice weather window while we were up there.

Years ago we were up at Gumboot Lk,on the road west from Lake Siskyiou.

On the north side of Castle Crags area.

As we walked the road past the lake we saw a very large "patch" the Fairyslippers.

Beautiful plant.

Thanks Ted for posting.
