Specifically, it is the rivets leaving round black marks on the ceiling cloth.  Is there supposed to be a backing on those to prevent that?  I will be taking the panels off to have a look see....

Vic, I’m not aware of any backing, nor have I heard of this.  Assuming this is the front, chance you have extra bedding that is pushing the panels up?  Photos?

Aluminum pop rivits?  I could see that happening if they have any movement against the ceiling.  Which is probably likely.   MAybe some sort of adhesive mylar dots applied over each rivit assuming the smooth side is up????

I believe we have mild rivet marks on our ceiling from the lift panels after 9+ years, mainly over the bed area. I'll look and photograph the next time we lift the top at home.

The lift push bar thing leaves marks on the ceiling above the bed. Just about any metal will leave marks after a while, but aluminum is the worst. Wrap or cover in clear packing tape, problem solved.
