Lucy Rose is getting stronger ...starting the transition from Vet food back to her dry kibble... 25% increase/day. Hoping for the best.

Trip plans coming along and getting excited to be on the road.

Borrego Springs.

As we have decided to enter Mexico at the Tecate crossing we thought we'd spend some time in the Anza Borrego area. I guess the first question to ask those who have been here is first: If you had a choice of visiting here in the last week of January or the beginning of March which would you do and why? We would either exit Mexico back at Tecate or at Mexicali (we will be going down the west side of Baja and up the east.

The second of course would be where to find dispersed camping and what things to visit...is there a special route through the area which is a 'not miss' Any and all advice truly appreciated.

Good to see she’s on the mend. That’s my Golden’s favorite position. 😂

For me, Borrego would be a March visit.  There’s a bit more wildflower, and the temps are a little nicer (although it can get hot).

I'd  like to thank everyone who was patient enough while I came to the realization that the SW can be frosty at the elevations I was interested in... and in the end we are very excited now, after a month getting to and exploring Big Bend, then on to Borrego Springs, we then turn south to explore Baja for a month. Our trip homewards unplanned but hoping AZ and NM areas might be warming up mid March... considering also a curved coastal trip home along the Gulf Coast to FL then up the Carolinas... who knows?!

For those who would like to follow I will do another blog. My way of recording the trip for friends who want to know where we are. A warning though, I get wordy can't seem to help myself rambling on. I will however endeavor to put a bunch of photos so you can flick through! I put my truck back on the GM OnStar ATT plan unlimited data/cell/text for $15/Mo IF you also sign up for $10/Mo Chevy plan (keeps track of your truck if stolen and on can open and start truck with iPhone etc)... I'll keep it while we are on the trip. (US Can. Mex)

We leave on 1/2/23.

Thanks Vic. It will be a big adventure and after all the 'type A' preparation,  I hope to just wing it. If what I see on the web is true I wish I could have done it years ago... I love to fall onto something like a food truck or a beach that we just happen upon.... There is a wide range of foods so I will have fun there. I am a fan of Rick Bayless, an expert on Mexican foods. I bought his book some time ago and scanned the pages that refer to Baja. Oh Boy!
