FWC Customer Rally (December)

      Hello ,

      I was wonderingIf I could get some folks to honestly  chime in on  what the typical crowd is like at one of these Rallies .

            I am not new to camping at all just to FWC 

     I'm obviously a brand new owner to a Hawk on my 2019 Ford F-250 4x4  short bed so ,I'm very excited and looking for tips , techniques ,pointers unique to the limitations of these great campers, and looking for compatible people to meet and have a few cocktails with, hopefully develop some friendships.

     I'm  just getting ready to retire and see all the wonderful places we can go with these capable rigs where big RV's can't !!!

I used to love the rally's and they are a great way to get to know folks and get some creative mod ideas.  I quit going only because the Socal ones moved to an area in the desert where there are a lot of off road vehicles kiicking up dust and being loud, not my thing but great for those who like that kind of stuff.  Don't get me wrong, I love the Anza Borrego area and go there all the time.  Just not a fan of being surrounded by jeeps and dirt bike like are in the Ocotillo Wells area.  If you are into toys, you will probably love it.  Also might be worth going per what I mentioned in the first section. Like BobM I have moved to a Class B from my FWC Hawk. I always enjoyed the FWC Rallies, lots of good people when I went. Fun to see what others have done with their campers.

I'm going to use this thread to pitch for the WTW rallies we have had in the past. I have attended 2 FWC rallies that I enjoyed and I applaud FWC for going to the effort to get us out and about but I have had much more fun on the WTW rallies. The WTW rallies are less formal, include a variety campers and you are meeting with people you know from this forum.

My favorite WTW rally memory was at the first Death Valley event. We were sitting around the campfire in Ballarat when another truck arrived. SunMan jumped out, introduced his girlfriend and dog and said "who wants tacos". Before we knew it a pan was in the fire and Al Pastor tacos were being served. That trip only got better from there. Many of the nicknames shown above the avatar were earned at these rallies.

Enjoyed the WTW rally at Meadow Lake. Got to put names to faces. Also met Sissi and Gunther driving through from Alaska headed to the tip of South America. We followed their whole journey online, becoming online friends. In 2016 we visited them in Austria, they gave a different view of Austria than a normal tourist would get. Someone needs to take the initiative not hard but some work involved. I got involved Planing the Spring trip to Carrizo Plain for the super bloom.  If the rain continues we may have another super bloom.
