That was one thing i was very surprised to see when picking up this camper. The tie downs are just into wood with no backing or bracketing. I plan to backup the moutning point and beef those up a lot more. Any reason they didnt make the eye bolts go into the alu frame?

FWC does have a much improved tie down now, there are photos in some of the posts if I recall correctly. I think it may have had plates top and bottom.

Yes, FWC supplies a kit to upgrade the tie downs to what they currently use. 4x6 1/4” backing plates is the big change

Gave the floor a coat of paint this past week and located the roof leak, found a small crack in the fan housing. Prob should be replaced but i pooped it up with some caulk for now. Can i buy just parts for these older style fantastic fans?

Looking good.. I have rebuilt several, pretty basic..

As for mattress. We have used a 4 inch memory foam topper from amazon ($100 ash) that has worked very well for us.. I use a therma rest under my side for a little extra support as I tend to sleep on my side, but my wife likes it the way it is..  I am pretty picky on beds but sleep the best in the camper!

Floor..

I have used a couple different thing.. LVT (luxury vinyl tiles are nice and simple, cheap, and durable)

Also used a single sheet of coin rubber flooring which I liked best as it can be removed.

A nice carpet mat that you use in the bathroom with the rubberized back on top of that and you are all set..

LVT is what we have now, and like the comfort, do NOT like how easily it is damaged.  YMMV

For the floor right now i just got some foam puzzle squares. After caulking and painting the floor i wind up with a puddle in the rear passenger corner after a heavy rain. So I've got to track that leak down before any permanent flooring is decided on, if any at all. Theres a few screw holes that i taped up and a window on that wall. Im guessing now that the window is the culprit.man i hate chasing leaks.

I made alum backing plates above and below those mounting points and upgraded all the eye bolts, etc. to grade 8.  If you are doing it now, it's easier and never worry about it again.  I also added similar plates above and below the truck bed and upgraded the turnbuckles so they can't come lose.

Nice thats a nice easy way to add strength. i have a good plan to beefen up those point but that is not top priority at the moment they seem ok. Not sure how tight the turnbuckles are supposed to be (i figure they are capable of more than the wood can handle)

What turnbuckles are you all using? I got some from tractor supply when i went to pick it up. But man they were a pain to get at. Are there better/easier options?
