Aaron,

Thanks for putting all this together and keeping it interesting.
If Western Mining History ever has any research related field trips let me know. I'll bring the beer.

Hey Everyone, as usual good ol' Home Skillet is last to know anything, but I had smelt change in the wind.

The sentiment that is pouring out from all of you is making me teary. It reminds me that while Dirty Dog was the vision and architect of this great community, it is all of you that are the heart. As long as the heart is pumping, there is still life and I'll do my part.

Sounds like Andy knows his stuff, but really, does it matter. We are all the "wheels on the dirt"!

Personally, I look forward to many more years of exploring with my fellow WTWers.

Sincerely,
Home Skillet

Andy R, are the contributor reward points and monthly giveaway drawings a thing of the past?

Haha, nope. Seems like an awesome community even though some have to suffer with dog farts. Now the KY and lovecock references, well, I just figure those are some kid of inside joke. I actually tried to Google to see if it was something I didn't know and wish I could take back that couple of minutes of my life, don't try it.

J..J...J..Job! Say it ain't so Captn'. :o

It's funny, that's my opinion on the J*b word too. I left my last J*b in 2005 when I decided to go wander with two suitcases and a laptop. I spent 4.5 years wandering around the world on 6 continents staying in cheap countries. I started in Argentina and then covered Chile, Uruguay and Brazil. Then I moved on To Australia, SE Asia and then over to Europe and Africa. I also spent few months wandering from Texas through the Rockies to Yellowstone and then over to Portland, down to LA and back through Utah. I love to wander.

Even though managing forums takes a lot of work, it's way better then being stuck in a cube. A lot of the sites I manage have the same attitude. For example, www.early-retirement.org is very much a live below your means mindset where the members find great ways to lower their expenses so they can break free of the corporate shackles. www.CruisersForum.com is mostly sailors who wander the world crossing oceans, I have so much respect for them.

My favorite movie is called Office Space, what a classic!

Andy R, are the contributor reward points and monthly giveaway drawings a thing of the past?

Yes, for the foreseeable future we are going to keep those but please be patient as we figure out how to manage them. There might be a time when we switch software and will have to figure out how to port over the point system. If it's too much of a PITA to keep the same type system we will look for other ways to continue to do some give-a-ways.
