Tuff Guy, I'll have you know the CH 46 is a fine aircraft... Phrogs rule! :)

Yes, Steve, a fine aircraft . . . . . once they stopped breaking in two.

Not looking for a fight, Steve; my post above was supposed to have a smiley face.

Richard, to be truthful, I was afraid to fly in them until they figured out that “hover aft” as a speed break wasn’t a great idea, and until they put the spar leakage indicators on the rotors. In July ‘69, I lost one of my closest friends in a Purple Fox (HMM 364) crash. That said, once those were fixed/in place they had a good record.

Semper Fi amigo!

Sorry to hear about the tragic passing of your friend aboard a 46.  Senseless loses like that are extra difficult to accept.

We'd better get back to R-pods or the site administrators are going to chastise us.  Semper fi to you as well.

No worries, Park is a Marine Mustang, so I’m sure he will understand about his thread being hijacked... :)

If I were considering a pull behind trailer to sleep in...

I would go the same route Tom (recent/former owner of FWC)...a FWC camper in the bed and a towed Airstream.  the very best of both worlds!

If you are mechanically inclined, a 1970s Airstream can be had for about $10K;  put another $10K in it with sweat equity and you will have a great live-in trailer!

Yes, a LOT of coin...but then why not live the life of Riley away from home!

Tear-drops have never done anything for me.  I lived in a pill box in the Marine Corps...don't need that again!

As a Marine Aviator...

Phrogs were good machines, UNTIL, the SHTF!

The USMC's commitment to vertical assault will never diminish.  Simply read "The Dream Machine: The Untold History of the Notorious V-22 Osprey". An in depth read about procurement of perhaps a too advanced machine for current Aviators.
