I have an 85 fleet on a 2001 Tundra. It has been a great little camper. I paid $500 and then rebuilt both lift panels, replaced the over cab wood, removed the furnace and installed a buddy heater, reupholstered the cushions, etc. These campers are a tinkerer's dream. Weighs about 850 lb empty. You will enjoy yours. For that price, you can't go wrong!

Thanks for all the help.  The caper is in really good condition.  It is a bit heavy but it does not overload the truck too bad.  I will be adding some sort of helper spring soon. Everything seems to work and I cannot find any leaks (5 days popped up with over 1 foot of rain).  My only question is how safe is the heater system.  Would you tust a 30+ year old heater to run overnight?

Well first I'd carefully inspect every fitting and line for leaks and inspect the heat exchanger for severe rust and holes.  If everything looks OK I'd fire it up.  I'd also get a Carbon Monoxide alarm before I spent any time in it with the heater on.  Good luck, it looks like you got a good deal.

I had an old fleet and loved it. I second what Bill says. Try firing it up and see if it works, mine needed a new igniter and it was cheaper to find a used Atwood that was a current model, or a new Mr Buddy then repair the old one.
