BillD. That's a good heads-up. I'll ask specifically about this item on the Canada side.

If the unit is registered in the USA, and your primary residence is in the USA, then Canadian rules/regs don't apply.  I think the difference on Canadian FWC only matter if you buy/own them here.

I'm still curious though.  Someday soon I hope to find a camper, and it will likely be in the USA, and I will need to bring it across.  Should be "fun"

That makes sense. Will still ask and see what they say. They are pretty used to seeing us cross. Our neighbors also bought a camper van last year. I can't remember if they bought it in the States but they've definitely traveled here for extended periods. So they likely have some advice.

Just came back from a trip to BC. I didn't travel with my camper but asked at the Canadian border crossing about bringing it in.

They indicated that for my case, where it was not staying, I would simply travel as usual. Nothing special.

They said if I were leaving it in Canada, that slide-in campers were treated as any typical purchase and subject to taxes. But that it wasn't considered as importing a vehicle. A quick web search found this reference where the camper is discussed as an exemption part way down the page.

We have a 2014 FWC and traveled through Canada twice in 2015 and we weren't asked one question about the camper. However, when asked if we had been to Canada before, my wife and I had a major geezer moment and said no. They asked several times and then put us through the ringer. We had gone to Vancouver in 2009 and forgot. They must have thought we were lying and went through everything and we had to have a background check. Let one person talk and answer the questions with as few words. No problems on 2nd trip in. Jd
