Have recently bought a 2007 Alaskan 10' CO camper. I like everything about it, except the lack of an interior shower. It has the Thetford cassette toilet, but I can live without that. The folks at Alaskan Camper say it is not an option they offer, and they did not know of any conversion kits? There are other manufacturers of "pop up" truck campers out there that have figured this out, so I am puzzled by this.

Having said that, does anyone know of a conversion kit to add an interior shower/? I'm thinking of removing the Thetford toilet and enclosure and installing a shower in that location. Help!

So many things would need changing to incorporate a shower...more water storage ...a holding tank, a better water heater....I think they've been round the horn on this...and I've been thinking about it as well.....and my wife :D

I'm thinking about including an outside with the next retrofit.

Not sure  why you need a holding tank, drain to a bucket like the sink in a FWC.  A plastic 3 gal pail with a lid having the drain go into the bucket works (center hole in the lid the size of the drain hose). plus dump it in the outhouse.    The bucket keeps ricky ranger from blowing a gasket, tell him its a holding tank and put it in the camper when done.  A pan with a drain to the back should work, put a pit cock on the end, hook the hose to the bucket when in use.  Put the toilet back or a portable on the pan for travel with a rubber mat under the toilet.  As to a large water heater, use a solar shower, hang it up, and heat the water on the inside stove or an outside stove and pour into the $15-20 dollar solar shower via a funnel.  Worked for a FWC outside, was full proof, no "water heater" required.  Works on river trips worldwide.

You may find a pan for the shower in a junk yard for campers and trailers.  If you find the size, call some companies that put the pans in their equipment.   My next camper may be built this way to save weight on the water heater, holding tanks, etc. and an outside stove and a pot heats water in a hurry.

Someone on a forum had a leg less cut down (sides) utility sink as a shower pan. Since then I have analyzed utility sinks for that reappropriation..... A few have looked like they would work well as a shower pan.
A sheet metal shop could fabricate the exact size you want out of your choice of metals, too.
Nothing insurmountable.

I have a 2x2 recess in the floor of my 8' CO. It's for a yet to be installed copper shower pan. I built my lower section from scratch, so it was easier, but if your Alaskan is raised up on 2x4s like many, you could do the same thing. I plan to make a Ipe or mahogany insert to cover recess when not in use. I bought a Spray Away shower port for the inside, but you could just plumb to the sink. My drain plans are similar to above, the ground when possible, a bucket when not. We plan on using the outside shower mostly, but it's not always possible. I suspect one reason Alaskan doesn't offer it is because of the wooden interior, it just doesn't like moisture. Something with Aluminum frame and fiberglass is more tolerant to over sprays and leaks from the shower curtain
