When we traveled with our kids in our fifth wheel, I carried a Honda 2000 in the toolbox in the bed.  We brought it for precisely two things, running our microwave for a few minutes each day and my wife's hair dryer.  I bought it for emergency use at home but have only used it a couple times for that.  I always think I'll bring it when camping in my van so I can use the microwave and A/C (it's a 5000 BTU unit so it will run) but in eight years of owning the van, I've never taken it once.

While I almost never camp in an organized campground, I hate the drone of these things when people run them for hours at a time (which is why I mostly boondock).

Generators come in different sizes, and you need one with enough power to make your appliances work. This power varies depending on people’s needs — for some, a 3,000 to a 3,600-watt generator is enough.

This post was funny to read...

What's even funnier is when people desire to escape to the outdoors and bring the city with them. Air conditioning, blow driers, microwaves, etc. I guess it is up to each person to decide but if you really need all of that...why not just stay home?

Seriously, up until 50-100 years ago, how did humanity even exist, lol?!?

A couple years ago we were doing some research in the Chiricahua Mountains and decided to stay the night in one of the campgrounds in Cave Creek Canyon. Shortly after we pulled in a motor home did likewise. It parked, the engine was turned off, the generator came on, as did a large flatscreen. And that was it. No one even set foot out of the thing.
