Self explanatory if you've seen me in person! :D Probably a bit more so back in the day.

One of a couple of nicknames that have hung with me since childhood. Most friends call me Grizz in the real world these days.

Mine comes from the realization that I'm an Old Crow kind of guy..... as in Old Crow the inexpensive Kentucky bourbon.

Over a period of time I tried two dozen or so whiskeys only to learn I may as well buy the $8-a-bottle Old Crow since I couldn't tell much difference.... at least not enough to pay for it.

I subsequently read up a bit on Old Crow (here) and liked what I read. I enjoy thinking about fellas like Buffalo Bill, Mark Twain, U.S. Grant, Jubal Early, Henry Clay, Hunter S. Thompson, Tom Waits, and Principal McVicker having a sip of Crow as I have mine.

The photo on my account is from a 1957 magazine ad for Old Crow.

Mine is  my first name and the Zip Code where I live, Steilacoom, WA.

In the past I have used other "handles" online but this is one I use pretty universally now.

(Ummm, it is pretty easy to remember too ;-))

When I was born I had red hair....

My Swedish gramp (Bumpy) nicknamed me "Rusty"....somehow it continued to stick..long after the hair turned brown...white...and now mostly "gone".....somehow "Goney" just didn't work out... ;)

Came across the word "hoyden" sometime in the early 1990's and it seemed fitting.

Use it most everywhere and a lot of folks think it's my last name.

I like that.

Ours? As straight forward as can be. The Lady and I ski 3 pin.

There's this beautiful little creek  in the N.F. of the Clearwater drainage named Cayuse Creek that is a not a difficult stretch of whitewater but the scenery is outstanding.

I use the moniker on most forums that I'm on.

I have seen this on topo maps I have been studying in the evenings. Cayuse Creek flows into Kelly Creek. They are over the divide from the upper reaches of the Lochsa River (middle Clearwater drainage). All look like nice spots to wet a fly line.

A good handle, hoyden.
