This might be a long shot, but my favorite way to wander is on horseback. One of the primary reasons I own an 8ft pop-up camper is so that I can tow a horse trailer to a remote spot and wander to the backcountry on the back of a good friend. Here's a shot of my trustee steed.

Anyone other horse people here?

Nice 4 wheel drive vehicle. What a great way to combine camping and exploring the back country. jd

No doubt that a horse is the ultimate 4WD ( or 4HD )!
