Be careful planning to change to smaller wheels (17" to 16"). They may not fit over the brake caliper.

I was going to put 15" wheels on my new '07 Tacoma, which had 16" wheels, because I had a set of good almost-new tires left from the old '01 Taco (RIP). I was all set to buy used 15" wheels, but discovered at the last minute that they wouldn't have fit.

Thanks for the advice, bfh2n,

We are going to stick with the 17" wheels, we realize the possible problems with changing the wheels after thinking about it a while.

Thanks everyone for your advice. We decided to get a new one, especially since mold on the pop up part was a big concern. My husband has bad allergies and asthma and we decided to go new and off-gas it.

I appreciate everyone's willingness to help out!
