Camper friends,

what is the best size Generator to buy for my older camper?

stock 3-way fridge.

no radio.

single Optima house battery.

stock heater system.

stock incandescent lighting bulbs.

stock hydraulic pump.

stock water pump.

I don't plan on having an AC unit, microwave or coffee pot.

quiet and fuel efficient is preferred for hunting camp.

and...

is it OK to run the Generator while I am raising the top?

thanks in advance..

Kevin

Kevin, a 1000 watt generator would work well. I like Yamahas, but Hondas are great, as are others. The two I mentioned are quiet and easy on gas. Keep your 3 way on propane, and they will run on Eco mode. Replace your incandescent bulbs witH LEDs, and your battery wil go a lot longer.

I see no reason why you couldn't run the pump with the genny running, but then I don't have an Alaskan. Someone else will have to chime in on that.
