Sorry it took so long to get back with you. Feel free to PM me for contact information if you're in the area and are thinking about doing this modification. Id be happy to answer any questions you may have. I live in south Reno off Mt. Rose Highway, so If you're in So. Tahoe I may be even closer.

Not sure what FWC would charge to do this, but it's not a major project to me based on the skill and tools I have. Sure. It's not for everybody whos coming from a Tundra build to just knock this out, but I'm into self-help; call it a hobby.

Also, zero issues with width at the wheel well.

I hope that answers your questions.

Great photos and write up! Do you have any regrets loosing that little bit of extra height? Do you even notice?

I have been curious about doing the opposite type of project and some how adding height, but curious if that little bit of extra would be noticed and even worth to project.

I'm a tad confused...

What is specific to a "tundra build" hawk?  My 2018 is just the standard one.

I know earlier tundras had a shorter bed wall, but I thought the 2012s were normal

So did you in turn lower the interior height of the camper at the same time?

I am contemplating a Ram for my next truck (currently a 2014 Tundra)

No regrets. Looks much better, sits lower, just fits the truck better.

If you ordered your Hawk new, and for your 2014 Tundra its got the added floor pack just like in my photos. Look for the aluminum at the bottom like in my photos. Bonus is you have a much better insulated floor, but if you change trucks the camper will look gawdy sitting way up high. It raises the hawk 3" since the Yota beds are taller.

Years 2008-current are taller beds. 23" height.

Likewise, if you own a Tundra and were to buy a used FWC Hawk (built/ordered for anything other than a Tundra) it won't fit. Something good to know since you'll have to build some type of platform to raise the camper up 3"

I am considering this for my 2014 raven for all the same reasons. Thanks for the write up, however is there a way to see the pictures? They are just showing the file name.
