Have you narrowed down the dates yet 5outta6, and/or the number of days on the actual trail? I'm still interested, but tentative depending on my work flow.

That week looks good for me, still depending on my work flow, but it's penciled into the calendar. I also have a copy of the guide book.

I have to ask though, are your ride alongs excitable? As in do they bark a lot? Barking dogs in the quiet solitude of a backcountry camp could be a deal killer for me. Well behaved dogs are a joy and a pleasure to have around, but some dogs, like some people, just can't keep quiet :)

Then again, if it became an issue I could always set up camp a mile down the road...

My dogs (border collies) stay in the truck or camper. don't normally bark much.  But i can't say never. its if a problem for you, I could camp down the road from you.  I take them almost everywhere I go. Never had a problem.

And, my ride-along brother-in-law doesn't bark much, and my dog, who will occupy the back seat, is quiet unless she encounters a mailman or a squirrel, neither of which should be a problem in the desert.

I met up with K6ON and his ride-a-long today near Sacramento.

After discussing the road, the crazy weather lately and the distance we have to travel to get to the Mojave Preserve we decided it best to put off driving the whole trail until the last week in October.

We would meet up on October 26, 2020 at the Avi Casino near Ft. Mojave / Laughlin, NV.

I still plan on being somewhere around the Preserve the last week of this February.  Most likely  starting by taking the detour roads around the water crossing into Afton Canyon.

We hope this change in plans doesn't cause anyone great dismay.

5outta6,

I was planning to do some dispersed camping near the Preserve even if this trip didn't happen. Are you interested in meeting up when you are there?

I'm always up to meeting up with others.  My plan is to be on the west end , probably on Monday Feb. 24th. Around Afton Canyon, weather permitting.

5outta6,

Sorry, change of plans. I got a chance to join a group tour of the Mojave Road the first weekend in March. I am still interested wheeling the road with you guys. I will look for your posts regarding the October trip. Until then...
