I currently have an Eagle (06 I think) mounted on my Nissan Frontier Nismo, extended cab not crew, 6' bed.

I just picked up a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Quad 4x4 with 6'4" bed

I'd like to mount the Eagle FWC onto the new truck HOWEVER in the future I'll get a Hawk FWC and sell the Eagle and I'd prefer to find a way to put my eye-bolts in such that I can mount the Hawk in the future but at this time mount the Eagle. Using either extra links or a longer turnbuckle would be fine for the bigger distance I assume but my question is WHERE do I (or perhaps HOW do I figure it out) put the bolts? I don't have a Hawk to use as a template.

Does anyone know the distance between bolts on the Hawk? (I don't have my Eagle with me, it's on a vacation property 9hrs away so .... same question anyone know the distance between bolts on the Eagle?)

Does it make sense that I could deduce from the difference the position to mount the bolts in the bed?

Other ideas?

Thanx

Call FWC they probably could give you the exact measurements. For temporary mounting I would look at using D-Rings anchored using the bolts that hold your bed down.

I use something very similar for the front of my Eagle. I got them at a local metal supply.

In the back the camper covers the bolts and I have a 3/8" x 2" flat bar that I mounted using the bed bolts. At the end of the flat bar I attached 2 eye bolts.

Kolockum, are you sure those are strong enough? Campers are pretty heavy, so if you slam on the brakes, you wanna hold 'em down solid.

The ones I have are rated for 3,000 lbs if I recall right and are made out of 3/8" round stock. Your right the ones in the photo look a little light.

Use the factory 1500 bed tie downs. They are much stronger than the FWC turnbuckles. Speaking of those turnbuckles, chuck those as well and get yoke style with ny-loc nuts and put.a jam nut on the RH threaded yoke.

So position of the bed tie downs are fine for mounting position? I wasn't sure if you needed the location of the mounting points to be both inward meaning they both pull the camper ends towards the middle of the bed (if that makes sense) - ie. the turnbuckles are angled such that they are attached to a point closer to the  centre of the bed rather than towards the front and back of the bed.

If the above is true (it doesn't matter) then great I'll use Oilbrnr's idea of the tie downs. I'll also look into the turnbuckles he suggested as I'll likely need longer ones anyway.

Thanx

Those are what I use with ny-loc nuts on the pins and a jam nut on the RH threaded rod. Also used quick links on the RAM hoops to provide a bit more flexibility. No issues in thousands of miles of heavy off-road use. I'd personally recommend a rubber bed mat. I have a BedRug in mine from having a prior shell on my bed. Not sure I'd keep it in there if I didn't live in the desert dry SouthWest however.

Very nice snug fit, zero movement and no adjustment needed after the initial 'settling-in'. Don't over tighten the turnbuckles!

Just got back from three days running on the beach in Mexico. Very connected feel to the rig at speed.

What year Hawk? The camper mounts are further apart on my 99 than on a friends 2010. I can get you the measurements on my 99.

What is the payload capacity of the Nissan Nismo? I have a Nissan Frontier and I want to put a Sun Lite on it. Not even sure it will handle it.
