Along the way?  As in half way down the wires?  Nope.  One at each end, as close to the respective batteries as possible

I was hoping you’d see my post Vic and chime in.

A couple of questions:

When you say at each end as close to the respective batteries as possible I’m not understanding...shouldn’t I run the wire from the truck’s alternator to the camper battery? (I have a 6.7 Diesel with a heavy duty alternator and 2 batteries)

And secondly, what size fuse(s)?

Thanks.

With that diesel and two batteries, I'd pick the closest object (either battery or alternator) that is handiest to run wire from.  The wires between those are beefy enough to not warrant upgrading.

And yes, you want to have a fuse that is sized for the wire you are trying to protect.

If the wire was run from the truck battery to the camper battery wouldn’t that allow the truck battery to run down when the truck is off and the camper battery is being used?

(sorry for the basic questions, electrical things are a “black box” mystery to me!)

yes, that's why you also have a separator.  I use the Blue Sea ML 7622.  Sorry, missed that part of your question.
