Red Rock Canyon SP was a nice stopover on a Monday night heading towards DVNP. Only a handful of campers, quiet. Downside is that the Hwy. is in view about 3.5 miles out. No road noise really, just the lights can be seen where you are camped up against the rock bluffs. Nice hike in the morning back out at the Hwy. The rock is increasingly red with a nice loop trail & some good strata & formations. We continued past the loop down the wash a bit for a little more scenery.

Alabama Hills visit was our first overnight here. Alarming lack of snow. Made the mistake of picking a 3 day weekend, (will be more aware) but we had the opportunity to meet up with our oldest son & his family. Got lucky with getting 2 pretty nice spots with view, even with the extra Holiday visitors.

DVNP weather was great. We just missed the wind. Appreciated getting ideas from previous post recommendations. Between Bill & Ski blog posts, I will only add a pic as we came down from our camp off Echo Canyon early one morning. Nice view stop for a cup of coffee & a bagel.

Had to add two young off road enthusiasts after a full morning plus lunch time hike. Taking a snooze in a vintage Aristocrat recently restored. It was really a pleasure with such great weather.

Sounds like a good trip even with the holiday crowd. We like to stop at Red Rock Canyon for lunch on the way to DVNP. Beautiful scenery and a nice place to stretch the legs with a short hike.

Loved the picture of the worn out kids. Nice to get them out in the environment making memories and seeing the landscape through their wondering eyes.

We stayed there back in Oct. 2013.

Really enjoyed the night and morning walks.
