Thanks.  It appears that there is a dealer who does custom installations (drills holes in the roof) about an hour and a half away.

Yakima makes clamp on racks that don't require rain gutters.

Hello Frank,

If I get to see one up close I might finally commit.  Right now the main thing that holds me back is that I would get a great deal more use of the camper in the popped down position.  If they would make it with an interior height of 60" in the closed condition I would be very much interested.  Add a for real furnace and I'd be set.

Why you don't look at the ATC campers.I have a Bobcat.

Very well constructed and a few 1000$ less then the FWC Fleet.

Give Marty a call. They are great to work with and will do some custom work.

Did you look at the Palomino site for the Rogue model?

With just the rear of the camper lifting it might be something for you.
Also the price is a factor.

Thanks, that's kind of Interesting, though I kinda wanted a shell with a furnace.  I'd check them out, but the two nearest dealers  don't have them in yet.

Looking at the first pic it looks like a custom commercial shell. Something along the lines of an ARE DCU

I don’t have em on this phone but I’ll add some pictures when I get home. I almost bought one like that for my colorado. ARE, workmate, and tradesman will make a topper like that for your truck.

tradesman by access MFG: i dont know mow much these are, but theyre more expensive than the ARE DCU units

ARE DCU custom build (these run about $3500 for the bare shell)

Yes Casa..., that does seem to fit my wishful minimalist list.  FYI, I only see 2 of the 4, maybe they are only duplicates?

The bottom 3 are the same camper. The first one is a different camper.

There’s some good threads on tacoma world if you search “aluminum truck camper” and “commercial truck camper” on there.

ARE is much cheaper than tradesman, they kinda start around $2400 and go up from there, optioned like the bottom one (I emailed the dude for his build sheet) and I was quoted ~$3300

Tradesman is MUCH more custom, heavier duty, and will reinforce, welds all 4 sides, etc I was quoted a bit under $7k for a 18” tall cabover on my colorado. But it was much more optioned etc.

Ultimately, my colorado is going back, and I’ve got a FWC up at ATC being refurbished and it’ll go on a new full size rig. We’ll see how it all goes.

I'm wondering if a furnace is workable in these caps?  I have the impression that since they are not as insulated very well the furnace would operate much longer than normal.
