The floor plan is almost exactly how I would lay out a shell model of an ATC. I’m not a fan of the overall height, but the weights demonstrate real thought on the part of the mfg. It could be a real seller for those who aren’t fans of a pop up.

I agree.

I also like the ability to take the stove and fridge outside if you want. The water storage is an interesting idea. But I’m not sure if there’s enough. I would probably need more.

I am going to be upgrading to a new(er) truck in the spring 2021.  I had a 2001 FWC Granby for several years which I enjoyed tremendously.  In researching the new FWC shells I came across the Scout Truck Camper recently.  I have to say it does intrigue me.  It's low enough of a profile to be nice yet roomy.  Being hard sided and seemingly well insulated it would be warmer (I think) for early spring, late fall and winter camping.  It can be used off the truck unlike the FWC with a wood floor that needs to be supported.  Love the quick removable camper jacks and being able to extend them for loading/unloading the camper.   I like the chest type fridge/freezer and inside/outside cookstove.   

 

I don't need the tent thingy on top.  I'm not real keen on the Goal Zero lithium battery pack.  Not sure how reliable it would be for long term camping, i.e. wintering in the southwest. Lots of electronics crammed in it.  How reliable are these?  The Scout's water and propane capacity are abysmal.  The Dickinson heater is cool but hanging up so high I'm not sure how well it would heat at below freezing temps especially at floor level.  My FWC - Granby was always cold from the floor up to about the counter in winter situations even with a 6K BTU Olympic Wave heater going. 

 

I have a few thoughts....I could buy a truck with a 6.5ft bed and install a 10in W x 40in L x 28in H water tank to be placed at the front of the truck bed for extra water on either the FWC or Scout.  Extra propane tanks are possible.  Maybe an Alde Hydronic heating system install?  

 

Has anyone bought a Scout truck camper yet?  Any thoughts?  I've seen the reviews but would like to hear some about some real world use.  Thanks!
