This isn't specific to a Hallmark or even truck campers but I wasnt sure where to ask this. Has anyone removed the folding metal cover on the three burner propane stoves?
We never use it as extra prep space and that is the only purpose we can see for it, other than another thing to clean and another piece of sharp metal on which to slice our fingers.
We're two adults in a Hallmark Everest and we use the stove daily to twice daily. Has anyone done it and did you have any regrets?

Purely optional and the majority of cooktops don't come with the cover. Lots of folks remove them and some fashion something that is more serviceable as a prep counter.

I actually added one in my Lance 650. Did not come with one. Otherwise grease ends up on the walls that are some type of woodlike material covered with wallpaper type finish.We actually cook in our camper and I would rather clean grease off of stainless steel than the walls.Had a previous camper with one too.

I have to admit it seemed like an odd question to me. I can't see any reason for not doing it other than as Keith said, it acts as a splatter shield when in use. I think it looks better closed when the stove is not in use.

I feel the "cover" is there for a good reason.

Closed after use would keep you from getting burned on the hot grates.

If you close the camper top just after using the stove without a stove cover you might damage the liner.

Also It does keep any splatter from the liner.

I've thought about removing my cover and adding some sort of easy clean surface on the wall.  But I wondered if it helped keep the burners in place while driving.  Has anybody had problems with the burners not staying in place without the cover?

It's a good splatter shield if needed, we don't cook alot indoors, maybe fix coffee. I like with the cover closed, the flat cover is good for other uses, like making a cocktail.

The burner grates are "sprung" so they shouldn't move around.

There's a little tab on the bottom of them that fits into a hole in the stove top.
