In late October, early November we'll be receiving our new ATC Ocelot. We're thinking about the California coast north of San Francisco for our first adventure. Time will be 2-4 weeks to get home to north central Washington state.

My question is: What are the best resources for trip planning. We'll adapt to whatever we need to but the trip will hopefully be mostly boondocking for a night or so and then on to the next part of the adventure.

Print? Online? I assume there will be a combination that is best. I will be scouring the existing forums here at WTW for insights.

Thanks in advance,

Mel

Welcome to the cult.Congrats on the ATC Ocelot. We have an 2009 Bobcat.Marty does such a great job.

Will you drive down I5 to Sacto and get your camper then head north for your trip?

I would suggest US 101 north after Cal 1 from the bay area. The stretch from the Marin county north on Cal 1 is very nice. Then you pick up US 101 at Leggett.

I can't give much info about boondocking but there are a lot of nice campgrounds along the coast most of the way south to the bay area.

If you have specific areas PM me maybe I can help.

We have camped a lot along the coast.

Boondocking along the coast can be problematic. Some of those sites are closely held secrets and most of the public campgrounds are still closed for covid reasons.

I've been wondering about the logistics given the current state of affairs.

Thanks! The camper will be delivered to Phoenix, Oregon, which looks like a suburb of Medford. Some tax savings involved.

Will definitely be spending some time on/off 101 and highway 1. Just beginning the planning process so at this point don't have many details.
