Hey guys, currently camping up in the White Mountains at about 11,000 feet and my stovetop isn’t working.

I have had similar problems with BBQ’s and after doing some research found a solution to reset the regulator by unhooking the propane and letting it rest for a few minutes and then after hooking it back up slowly opening the valve. Unfortunately this isn’t working. I’ve read through some posts offering similar solutions. One interesting fact is my fridge and heater are still working so it seems as if the main regulator is working ok. I took the stove top cover off and it seems as if the stove has its own smaller regulator. I’m a little worried about digging into the stove regulator here in the field because if it doesn’t go well I won’t be able to isolate the stove top from the fridge and furnace.

Anybody have a fix idea?

Many thanks!!

Update: the stove started working a couple of hours later. I had turned the gas back on (to keep the fridge working) so it was pressurized and not working and then started working. Also, we were parked so there wasn’t any motion or altitude factor.

Glad you were able to work this out. Anytime we've had propane pressure problems, we've done as you did - turn off the gas at the tank, remove the line to the regulator, wait a bit, and reinstall. Open the gas valve slowly. We have not had any real issues at elevation.

I've read that opening the tank valve too fast can cause problems.

I always open the valve slowly.Never have had any problems.

Great it got worked out.
