And no signs of slowing down. I shudder to think what the acreage estimate will be when I get up in the morning :(

Not as bad as I feared. 144,000 acres growing mostly to the south.

There was a story in the morning paper about 4 backpackers escaping

the Creek fire. They had to abandon their car and hike back to Reds Meadow

to the other car. Then drive to the friends home in Mammoth Lakes.

Very scary time.

I've been following this one closely since I have several friends living in Shaver Lake and that area has some of the best 4x4 trails in the state. For those familiar with the area I just read that Cressman's Store at the top of the 4 lane has burned.

Last I looked at the fire map it was down to both Shaver and Huntington lakes.

Crazy season.

I took this picture at 8:15 am on our morning walk.We are getting high level very thick smoke from this fire.

It's moving West toward Monterey Bay area.

It's blocking out so much sun it's like walking early evening. All the "dark" activated lights are on.

Now at noon it's not much better. Not much sun making it through and the temp is 59*.

The orange glow this morning was eerie.

This has been a very strange day.On our walks around our area few birds around.

Although "my" group of wild turkeys are out and about.

They provide us with a good entertainment.

I found out last night that 2 friends lost their homes in the Dogwood section of Shaver Lake.
