Sorry, no. Initial report said it was caused by a generator. The back of the house is burned, looking like the ignition point was beside the house. I'm curious for more information, also. I think it may have been a rental with one unit on the top floor and one below. They, just in the last two weeks, had the front porch deck replaced and driveway work done. It is a sad incident, but perhaps the house is not a total loss.

 

We walked around the house this morning. It is a total loss. The burned up generator sits in the middle of the ignition point. Sad, very sad.

From the story neighbors there told us, next door neighbors saw the fire and notified the occupants inside to get out. 911 was called. Very, very lucky. And, lucky the fire did not spread throughout the neighborhood.

The fire service dirty little secret, a huge number of these fires are set by firefighters looking for overtime.  I helped investigate many arson fires during my time with DOJ and was surprised just how many were set by firefighters.  SAD..

Yup, it ain't over 'til it's over. The winds are going to turn to an out of the southwest pattern. This would push the fire uphill and into unburned areas. I sure expect this is where the containment lines have been worked on.

Ski: just back from mountain cabin work, party of one. Thanks for info on generator caused fire. Did not use ours this past weekend, just didn’t feel right. Very dry conditions, earlier wind event left previously clean safe zone covered with pine needles/oak leaves. Surveying the property I’ve made a new safe zone plan.
