I removed my plumbing for that very reason. Often I will run the furnace with the top down while I am away or driving to keep the inside of the camper from freezing. Works quite well and with the top down the camper seems to be surprisingly well insulated.

Thanks for giving your experiences...just draining the plumbing during the winter rather than removing the plumbing  is the way we go; greatly enjoy having water on-board during at least 8 months of the year during our off-road travels and I would worry about running the FWC furnace while on the road simply due to wind entering the outside furnace box vents at highway speeds and blowing out the flame; BUT you seem to have successfully left the furnace on while driving...interesting.... and empirical knowledge is the gold standard!

i use a telescoping ladder, and a truckers  longhandled broom and clean alot when snowing keep snow away from vents and panels.  it important in the snow country to do so,  When you are cozy inside with a storm blasting away. the roof will melt the snow  to a slush and then ice if it cools off after the snow storm, either way it gets heavy. Plus if it cools off and the sun comes out you want to get that sun on your panels and into your Batts.   It can be time consuming ,but its part of winter trips and FWC's.

I use a small push broom head and a extendable handle for a paint roller. I will climb up on top of the truck cab if the top is up or stand in the back door of the truck when down. Push it off the back. Really fun if someone is in the camper and wants to come outside.
